Info Post
My sister took me to task over the fact that I didn't post about the big sale.  You have read just about
everything leading up to it...so, I suppose I owe ya!  The day started out early, 5:00 am and folks were
in the driveway with flashlights!  Holey Moley!

Yes, I used my retail experience to the fullest.  I put together countless small displays and Terri did the
dealing.  As they bought it, I re-displayed what was left.

We sold most everything and what didn't sell we donated to the Catholic Church for a yard sale they are having in May.  So I made some earth dollars and hopefully a few spiritual points as well.  I always need those!

It is interesting watching folks muse over the purchases as if they were at Macy's.  One woman asked if
Terri would take less on a .25 purse because the zipper "sticks."  Terri was more patient than I in those cases, but I did see the eye roll she was so famous for as a youngster more than once.

The high point of the day came as I watched an older woman bend down and remove a doll from a box
behind a credenza we were selling.  The doll was one that my paternal grandmother had when we were
young.  My children called it the devil doll.  If you lifted her arm and then pulled it down, she made a face.

All in all she had about seven faces, all that did look amazingly like Chuckie.

The kids hated the doll and though I had made myself ready to part with her, I just couldn't imagine who would want this sad faced, crazy haired doll.  I watched as she reached into the box and removed the doll.
She pushed the hair back from the face and then put it to her shoulder like a real baby.

She walked around the sale with the doll and started her pile of items to purchase. never once did she
put the doll down.  For whatever reason, she was in love with the doll.  As she and her buddy came up
topurchase, she began to put the doll on the pile.

My heart wrenched a little at the sight but I powered on.  I had made the decision for all of this to go and I
needed to stay the course.  "Do you like the doll?"  I asked.  "I love all baby dolls!"  she gushed.  "Please take her for free, I need someone to love her." I looked at Terri who was happy to see the doll go.

The lady hugged me,  tucked the doll under her arm and went on her way.  I was glad the doll found
a home and felt less guilty about getting rid of my grandmothers possession.  Even if it was a Devil Doll.
