When the USAF kept us inland water parks and lakes were our only source of "beach" medicine to cure salt water hankerings. Lucky for us, we spent years on bases in California and Mississippi right on the water. Here are a few highlights:
Surf lessons in Daytona beach for Salty (far right) and the grands. Show off in the middle...our son Brandon.
Salty and Brandon at Daytona Beach.
Kaylan, Terri and Mac in Emerald Beach, Florida. We were camping in our first beach house on wheels.
Salty, Brandon and Mac floating the Guadalupe. This will come full circle, we are planning this for the clan vacation next July.
Kaylan, Brandon and Mac snorkeling off Panama City on a party boat we rented for the day. We snorkeled also and I learned an interesting fact. Fat can actually save your life. I was snorkeling close to the bottom using every muscle in my arms and legs to keep me along the bottom looking for interesting sea shells. I stopped at an interesting spot and look downward at the sand about four inches below me. Suddenly an eye opened up in the sand. I loosened every muscle, expelled air and let the fat on my body shoot me right to the surface about three feet above. I probably looked like a pink underwater super hero exiting the surface.
So when you hear those stories about fat being bad for you heed this cautionary tale.
Time changes, children get older and I'm getting older too...but I now know how to use apps to make photos cool. Kaylan and Kaydance at Crystal in the photo above. The houses we stay in these days are nicer, a concierge and a maid come with them! We are able to still bring along kiddos and I just love that. Surf boards, skimmers, face masks all make their way onto the plane as we board for vacation in the land of the mexican minute. So I look back fondly, forge ahead because I must and be happy. See you in two weeks!
