Day two deserves a second posting because our adventures yesterday were just so fun. We were off to La Paz (which we never arrived at) and dropped by our favorite ever Mexican bar:
Today was unusual because we had to use the restroom and even though this is the most recent of several visits, we had never been to the restroom.. Here is where our adventure begins:
Salty found it first and deemed it worthy for blog posting because of this sign:
I had to admit he was right, but there is just so much more to the story. Two Mexican artists live here in this
odd but strikingly beautiful place. Art Music Beer is the name of the bar they run to supplement thier income. They sell an interesting mix of photographs, sculpture and paintings. The house is all done in stucco with red dome roofs. I can only describe the exterior because I didn't see the inside but I would have given a tooth for the nickel tour.
The pictures really don't do the space justice and don't show the ocean view that they must have from the house. You can barely see the ocean if you look through the cactus and blue sculpture. So we will have to be content with the space that is the outdoor gallery and bar.
On to the adventure in peeing...the banos:
It is housed in a hut (hereto referred to as palapas) to get there you travel a short path surrounded by brush and bugs. As you push open the aged door, it creaks and locks with the coolest old latch. The toilet sits in between two branches that are used to hold up the roof of the palapas. As the sign indicates there is a large barrel with two buckets, once you finished you have to deposit used TP in a trash can (which I could not bring myself to peer into or photograph) and then use one of the buckets to "flush."
I was really very into the "arty" vibe the banos was exuding, so I took my time looking around, anybody else who had to use the facilities was shit out of luck (sorry I couldn't help myself). It was then I noticed the second sign on the back of the toilet which directed you back to the first. There was a set of bottles on a shelf of varying different colors that I don't even want to know what was in them. That isn't true I did want to know but felt it wasn't right to start handling things. I am guessing they were the cleaners, for all its organic feel it was very, very clean.
After all the potty interest I finally made it back to the main palapas that housed the bar to find a major mango margarita waiting for me.
Salty ordered a Tequila Sunrise and we both enjoyed the complimentary clam salad snack the owner offered:
My beautiful sister Connie always used to tell me that Salty and I were the most adventurous eaters she had ever seen. She suffered with IBS and couldn't always chance the odd tasting opportunity. Suffice to say that if we found a taco stand in the middle of the Mexican desert...we would eat there. Both of our choices today were beyond delicious. If you finish your drink (and they are large) you get a gratis to go beer with the admonishment not to let the seguridad see it in the car.
The eating area is a series of palapas connected together by thatched walkways that house small tables for couples. The bar is housed in the largest palapas.
Travel is what I work for. It is worth any situation at work or in my personal life that creates stress. In my business the work sponsored travel the digs can be pretty posh. But none of those compares to the earthy fun this banos gave this traveler. Sometimes:

They are just looking for the banos!
